Description

This workshop will meet the needs of those teachers who are beginning the process of translating the new science standards into their daily teaching and learning. The workshop modules provide a close look at 1) The Vision of the Standards, 2) The Three-Dimensional Framework, 3) The Crosscutting Concepts, 4) The Engineering Practices, 5) The Disciplinary Core Ideas, and 6) Performance Expectations and Assessment. The Illinois Learning Standards for Science identify expectations for student performance. Teachers will use these standards to guide students to achieve the expectations by providing learning tasks, inquiry opportunities, assessment tasks, etc. This workshop will support educators in understanding and implementing all of these aspects of the new science standards and create a science unit that addresses a performance expectation.

When all requirements are met for completion of this workshop, participants will receive 25 professional development hours.
